You would think that the Zodiac Letters came from a Clint Eastwood Dirty Harry movie or perhaps the reverse is the case.
It all started when three letters that were prepared by the Zodiac Killer were received at three different Bay Area newspapers – the Vallejo Times Herald, the San Fransisco Chronicle and the San Fransisco Examiner. To all purposes , these cryptic , and generically prepared letters were similar, as well as consistent in theme, content, presentation and means of preparation and presentation.
The letters , or rather long notes took great pains for the author ( the Zodiac Killer) were in the main a means of accomplishment for the taking credit by the writer for the separate shooting at Blue Rock Springs and Lake Herman Road.
Each submission sent to to newspapers in essence bragging bravado contained a 408 symbol Cryptogram . Somehow this cryptogram contained the identity of the Zodiac Killer – or so the writer taunted the police.
